ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Three journalists from Ukraine are in the Capital Region, sharing their experiences and challenges of reporting since Russia's full-scale invasion in February of 2022 in a forum moderated by NEWS10's Lydia Kulbida. Anna Rudenko, Vladyslav Faraponov, and Anastasiia Rudenko will be at the Times Union's Hearst Media Center at 645 Albany Shaker Road.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The discussion will last an hour and is free and open to the public. Those interested in attending, however, must register by calling (518) 454-5651.
Before participating in this forum, these journalists met with members of the local Ukrainian American Community. The gathering took place at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center in Watervliet.
Local churches and non-profit leaders explained how they worked together as a group called 518 Ukrainians to send aid to Ukraine. The journalists said they were impressed with how people living outside and sometimes many generations removed from Ukraine preserved the culture and language and continued to show support during the war.
