(KRON) -- A woman who was struck by a vehicle in a Vallejo parking lot last week succumbed to her injuries days later at the hospital, the Vallejo Police Department announced Monday.
On Oct. 15, police responded at 9 a.m. to the 900 block of Sereno Drive on the report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision. The pedestrian, an adult female, was located with critical injuries and rushed to a local hospital, VPD said.
Investigators said that a man was driving a 2023 Nissan Kicks southbound in a parking lot when the vehicle hit the woman. The driver remained on scene to cooperate in the investigation, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to authorities. The driver was uninjured in the collision.
On Saturday, despite life-saving efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, officials said. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Vallejo PD Traffic Division is working to determine the cause of the fatal collision and any contributing factors, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Nicholas Petrie at (707)-648-4329 or Nicholas.Petrie@cityofvallejo.net.
The death marks Vallejo’s eighth traffic-related fatality of 2024.
