A warming trend is forecast to continue through Wednesday in San Diego County, with inland temperatures climbing 5 to 10 degrees above the seasonal average.
The National Weather Service said Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the week with highs of 73 to 78 near the coast, 80 to 84 inland, 81 to 86 in the western valleys, 86 to 91 near the foothills, 80 to 87 in the mountains and 95 to 98 in the desert.
By Wednesday night, coastal areas are likely to experience the return of low clouds and fog, which will persist into Thursday morning.
Temperatures Thursday will begin to cool slightly, with only minor day-to-day variations expected through the weekend, the NWS said.
Looking ahead to early next week, the marine layer is expected to deepen, causing low clouds and fog to spread inland. By Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will drop noticeably, particularly in the mountains and deserts, where stronger southwest to west winds are forecast to bring gusty conditions.
