TSA braces for holiday travel surge at Lambert Airport
TSA is expecting a 6.2% increase in holiday travel this year, with Friday expected to be one of the busiest days, and Lambert Airport is coming off its busiest Thanksgiving period since pre-COVID in 2019.
ST. LOUIS - As the Christmas holiday approaches, the hectic travel period has begun on the roads and at airports.
TSA says it expects to screen 40 million people during the holiday travel period that started Thursday and continues through Jan. 2. TSA says Friday is expected to be one of the busiest days for travel across the country. Dec. 27 and Dec. 30 are other high-volume days. TSA is projecting a 6.2% increase nationwide for holiday travel this year versus last year.
Lambert is coming off a very busy Thanksgiving travel period. Airport Spokesperson Roger Lotz says this past Thanksgiving was the busiest Thanksgiving for travel at Lambert since pre-COVID in 2019.
If you're traveling Saturday at Lambert, you will likely see a lot of military members at the airport. That's because it's the annual Green Day when thousands of Fort Leonard Wood soldiers, including new military members in basic training, head home for two weeks of well-deserved leave and family time.
TSA officials are advising travelers to make sure and leave yourself plenty of time when coming for your flight and of course, make sure to check on your flight with your carrier.
