This Colorado area saw almost half a foot of snow already
Nearly half a foot of snow has already fallen in part of Colorado as a storm system moves across the state, and now it's set up to bring some accumulation to the Front Range on Wednesday.
DENVER (KDVR) -- Nearly half a foot of snow has already fallen in part of Colorado as a storm system moves across the state, and now it's set up to bring some accumulation to the Front Range on Wednesday.
Wednesday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day due to light rain, snow and Denver's first hard freeze of the season. While Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels doesn't expect snow to accumulate in the Mile High City, other areas are expected to get up to half a foot.
These 5 Colorado areas already have snow
The Front Range will see the majority of its snowfall on Wednesday, but some places to the west have already received a few inches. The chart below shows how much snow fell in Colorado between 12:00 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.
County Location Magnitude Delta 6 E Skyway 5.5 Gunnison 4 NNW Mount Crested But 5 Gunnison 1 S Mount Crested Butte 3.1 Lake 2 NE Leadville 1.9 Gunnison 1 SW Pitkin 1
So far, Delta and Gunnison counties have the most snow.
Expected snow on Wednesday
On Wednesday, a few areas across the Front Range are expected to receive between 1 and 5 inches of snow with Estes Park being the "bullseye."
However, Michels expects the snow to melt in many areas, leaving the total amount of snow that sticks between 1 and 3 inches even in the hardest hit areas.
This cold front won't bring in much snow that stays, but this is only one of the first winter storms of the season and in some places, there isn't any winter to be seen out of it.
