SWAT standoff ends more than 12 hours after man shoots from Roseland apartment window
A gunman who prompted a SWAT standoff when he shot out of a second story apartment window was in custody Wednesday afternoon after over 12 hours on the Far South Side. Sometime after 11:30 a.m., the gunman was placed in custody and taken to an area hospital for observation, police said. The situation unfolded around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, when officers responded to a call of shots fired in the first block of East 103rd Place and a witness told police they saw the gunman firing, Chicago police said. He retreated into his apartment and a SWAT team responded, police said. No injuries were reported and no charges have been announced.
