VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) -- The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) said officers made a traffic stop Thursday after spotting a 2004 Lincoln Aviator speeding westbound on Solano Avenue toward Mariposa Street.
VPD said the driver pulled over by Mariposa Street and fled the car, running in the direction of a local hotel. Police said the man left behind a female passenger.
Police said the man was detained during the chase after he tripped over his own feet.
VPD discovered through a records check that the driver had a no-bail warrant from Solano County for probation violations.
Vallejo police said a probation search of the car uncovered a bag, right where the woman had been seated, that contained “an unregistered loaded firearm, a usable amount of methamphetamine, and the female passenger’s identification card.”
The woman told police she had no knowledge of the “mysterious bag” and its contents, including her ID.
The Vallejo Police Department reported the driver was arrested on several charges, including his no-bail warrant and fleeing from officers. Police said the woman was arrested for possession of drugs and a firearm.
Officials said the car was towed, and both suspects were booked into the Solano County Jail.
