They open up play as the top seed at the WAC Tournament in Phoenix at 3 p.m. Wednesday, taking on the winner of the Utah Valley/San Jose State match.
The championship game follows on Saturday. Seattle U (10-4-3, 7-1-1 WAC), the second seed, has a similar record; only the Aztecs’ 2-1 defeat of the Redhawks last month separates them.
The Aztecs shut out Air Force 2-0 in their Nov. 3 finale to complete their undefeated WAC season and clinch the regular-season crown for the first time. They had shutouts in six of their eight matches.
The Aztecs scored in the 29th minute on a Okoeguale penalty kick and again in the 55th minute when Fisher headed in a cross from Brummett for his first goal of the season.
Doumbia recorded his fourth straight shutout. The Aztecs allowed just one shot on goal.
