Over 400 flights delayed, canceled at DIA Saturday
Flights in and out of the Denver International Airport are still being delayed and canceled Saturday after nearly 20 inches of snow fell throughout the week.
DENVER (KDVR) -- Flights in and out of the Denver International Airport are still being delayed and canceled Saturday after snowfall continued throughout the week.
As of Saturday morning, 20 inches of snow had accumulated at DIA since Tuesday.
The snow storms caused over a thousand delays and cancelations Friday, and despite snow tapering off Saturday morning, there are still a lot of delayed and canceled flights.
According to Flight Aware, as of just before 2 p.m., 375 flights have been delayed and 73 have been canceled.
Skywest had the most cancelations with 50 flights canceled, followed by Southwest with 8 canceled and United with 6 canceled. As for delays, United had the most with 140 flights delayed, followed by SkyWest with 105 and Southwest with 81.
Most of the delayed flights (244) were flights leaving DIA, while most of the canceled flights (44) were supposed to arrive at DIA.
FlightAware has an online tool called the Misery Map, which compares how many flights are canceled at airports across the country. As of Saturday, the Denver airport had significantly more cancelations and delays than other airports across the country.
Travelers can check the status of their flight through their airline or on DIA’s website.
