(KRON) -- The Antioch Police Department (APD) confirmed a motorcyclist died in a sidewalk collision Monday morning after driving at a "high rate of speed."
APD said the incident happened at 10:58 a.m. in the 4300 block of Hillcrest Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they located the victim, a 43-year-old Antioch man, unresponsive on the ground and suffering from “major injuries.”
Antioch police confirmed the unidentified man died at the scene.
APD said traffic accident investigators have taken over the case. Authorities have so far determined the motorcyclist was traveling at a “high rate of speed” northbound on Hillcrest Avenue. The victim was thrown off his motorcycle when it collided with the sidewalk, said officials.
