SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- An early morning jogger was fatally hit by a high-speed driver in Ocean Beach Thursday morning, authorities said. This is a hit-and-run incident.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a call came in shortly after 5 a.m. reporting the collision in the intersection of Nimitz Boulevard and W Point Loma Boulevard.

Responding officers located the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No further details were immediately provided about the individual that was struck, though police say they appear to be a jogger.

Authorities are now looking for midsized sedan that is believed to have hit the pedestrian before fleeing the area. Other vehicles may have also been traveling at a high-rate of speed at the time of the incident.

Nimitz Boulevard is closed from the intersection to Sunset Cliffs Boulevard while authorities investigate and clear the scene. The closure is expected in remain in place for roughly four hours.
