If Mark Eydelshteyn attends the upcoming Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest in New York City, he’s got top prize in the bag.
The Anora star, 22, and has gone viral online for his striking resemblance to Wonka actor, 28, and has even been described as the “Russian Timothée Chalamet.” For Eydelshteyn, there’s no comparison he’d be more honored to have.
“I’m very grateful for this comparison because he’s an amazing actor, honestly,” Eydelshteyn exclusively told Us Weekly on the red carpet for Anora’s New York premiere on Tuesday, October 15, before adding with a laugh, “But I just can’t understand one thing — why he’s working in New York right now and he’s not here!”
Chalamet, for his part, has been spotted recently filming Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme in NYC. Eydelshteyn — long curly hair, pale skin, light eyes and endearing energy make him a dead ringer for the Dune star — joked that it was a “knife in the back” Chalamet couldn’t make time to show up for his lookalike twin.

“We’re talking about him too much and we’re talking in a good way,” he quipped. “He’s amazing, but why he’s not here is crazy.”
The doppelgangers haven’t met yet, but when they do, Eydelshteyn has a message for Chalamet: “Hi man. Thank you for your works. And do you like Anora? What do you think about the philosophy of Anora?”
In Sean Baker’s raunchy comedy, which is the winner of this year’s Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Eydelshteyn plays the son of a Russian billionaire who during his trip to America, is on an everyday bender filled with sex, drugs and lots of lavish spending. While he’s at HQ one night, a Manhattan strip club, he meets Ani (short for Anora and played by Mikey Madison). Their whirlwind romance ramps up and a week later, the couple married in Vegas, except their fate is anything but happily ever after.
Anora is also Eydelshteyn’s first major English-speaking role, and the film has launched him into the spotlight.

While speaking to Us, Eydelshteyn gushed about the chance to be a part of the project, noting that working with acclaimed director Baker and a powerhouse actress like Madison were definite highlights.
“Mikey and Sean are amazing people. One of the best people I met in my professional life and in my human life also too,” he said. “They’re very kind, both of them and they’re very smart and very talented and it was just a big pleasure to be close to them.”
Anora hit theaters on Friday, October 18.
