Jay Cutler allegedly tried to flee the scene of his DUI and offered the other driver $2000 to not involve the authorities.
After Cutler, 41, allegedly rear-ended another vehicle in Franklin, Tennessee, the retired football player attempted to leave the incident, according to legal documents obtained by Us Weekly. The victim also claimed that Cutler offered him “$2,000” to “not call the police.”
However, law enforcement arrived at the scene a few moments later. When the arresting officer spoke to Cutler, he noticed that the athlete was “staggering, swaying and heavy-footed while walking” while also having “bloodshot, glassy, red/pink, watery and dilated” eyes.
The officer asked Cutler if he consumed any alcoholic beverages, Cutler initially replied “None,” per the docs. However, the policeman noticed the scent of alcohol and asked Cutler the same question a second time. Cutler responded “a little bit.”
Jay Cutler’s Biggest Controversies Through the Years
After being asked to perform a field sobriety test, Cutler refused. He was taken to a hospital where a blood sample was obtained.
While at the scene, police also examined the cars for damage. Cutler denied being in a car accident. While the victim’s car had a “small dent” on the rear end, Cutler’s car had no noticeable damage. The docs noted that Cutler’s car had a “winch in the front.”
Police also searched Cutler’s vehicle. They found a “rifle” in the back seat and a “loaded Glock handgun” in the center console.
Cutler was taken into custody for DUI. He was transported to the Williamson County Jail in Nashville. He was charged with a DUI, illegally possessing a weapon while intoxicated, implied consent and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision.
Bail was set at $2,500 for the DUI and an additional $2,500 for release on recognizance (ROR.)

Kristin Cavallari Reveals ‘Split Custody’ With Ex Jay Cutler Has ‘Changed’
Days before his arrest, Cutler was on a deer hunting trip in Kentucky. He shared highlights from the excursion on his social media page.
“Last night, ran up to Kentucky,” he said in a video posted via Instagram on Wednesday, October 16. “The weather dropped a little bit, the temperature, pressure was high and the deer that I’ve been hunting had been showing up the last two evenings. We figured with the temperature dropping we might come out a little bit earlier.”
While Cutler was a star quarterback for the Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos, he was also best known for his marriage with Kristin Cavallari. The exes, who were married from 2013 to 2022, share sons Camden and Jaxson, as well as daughter Saylor.
