The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department seized three firearms, extended magazines and ammunition from a man who was fleeing a domestic disturbance in Bloomington Wednesday evening, officials said.
When deputies responded to the 18000 block of 14th Street at about 7:10 p.m., they saw a man, later identified as 32-year-old Brandon Fite, fleeing from the home with what appeared to be two assault rifles, the SBSD said in a news release.
After jumping a fence, ditching the guns and hiding in a shed, Fite surrendered to authorities after a standoff, the SBSD said.
Deputies found two unregistered guns, one an AK-47-style "Draco" pistol and the other a "short-barreled rifle, both with extended magazines and armor-piercing ammunition rounds," plus a replica MAC-10 pistol and more ammunition, the release said.
Fite was booked into the West Valley Detention Center, but jail records indicate he was freed on bail on Thursday.
He faces the following charges:
- Possession of a short-barreled rifle
- Possession of armor-piercing ammunition
- Being a non-registered person in possession of a loaded handgun
- Manufacture, import or sale of a high-capacity magazine
