SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office announced Friday a conviction in the trial of a Fairfield man who committed a one-night violent armed robbery spree last September.
D.A. Brooke Jenkins said Gerardo Saavedra, 25, was convicted of "five counts of second-degree robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a concealed firearm." Jenkins said the jury also found that Saavedra "personally and intentionally" used a gun in these crimes.
According to evidence and testimony from the trial, Saavedra confronted two people on a sidewalk on the 500 block of Howard Street on Sept. 8, 2023, at 11:44 p.m. He then drew a Polymer 80 Firearm ghost gun, demanded they hand over their property, and fled after stealing their belongings. About an hour later, at 1 a.m., on Sept. 9, prosecutors said Saavedra threatened another victim on a sidewalk the 700 block of Valencia Street with the same ghost gun and also took her property.
A half hour later, at 1:30 a.m., Saavedra approached two other women on a sidewalk on the 600 block of Mission Street and again used the ghost gun to steal their property and flee the area.
San Franciso Police Department said it tracked a victim’s stolen cellphone to locate the suspect entering a car in the area of 500 Howard Street. SFPD was able to recover all of the stolen property, and the gun used to commit the robberies.
Saavedra will remain in custody while he awaits his sentencing on Nov. 15, said the D.A.'s office.
