SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- An injured barn owl located at Baker Beach in San Francisco on Sunday was rescued by firefighters and animal control, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

In a video posted by the fire department to social media, the owl is seen being evaluated by San Francisco Animal Care and Control (SFACC) personnel before being transferred to a box for transport.

When asked in the video if the owl’s wing was broken, SFACC said it could either be damaged or it could just be tied up. The injured barn owl is seen with string wrapped around its left wing.

“Not good, but could be a lot worse,” SFACC personnel said.

According to SFFD, the owl “will be OK,” and “receive appropriate care and rehabilitation.”

The oldest known barn owl lived to at least 15 years old, according to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
