ST. LOUIS - It is going to be an emotional morning in the Central West End Friday morning as a funeral will be held to celebrate 16-year-old Colin Brown, the CBC High School student who died after being hit by a stray bullet on I-55.
The Cathedral Basilica will host Brown's funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday morning. At the same time, a new effort is underway to try and get a break in the case.
On Thursday, CBC in Town and Country hosted a visitation for Brown. Many people are coming out to honor and remember Brown. 16-year-old was a passionate hockey player and there has been a tremendous outpouring of support for Brown's family from the hockey community.
New electronic billboards highlighting the $25,000 CrimeStopper reward in this case are up along our area's highways as many mourn Brown's tragic death.
On Nov. 23, a stray bullet struck Brown in the neck as he was returning home from a hockey game with his father. The two were on I-55 southbound near Loughborough when the tragedy happened. Brown was rushed to the hospital but died days later.
St. Louis Police are investigating the case. So far, there have been no arrests and there are still many unanswered questions. We're told the reward will be paid for information leading to an arrest in the case; a conviction is not required and all payouts are anonymous.
