BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Dion Dawkins was named the Bills' nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award for the third consecutive year on Thursday.
Dawkins has been involved in a number of community projects through his charity Dion's Dreamers. He held his fourth annual 716 CommUNITY Day in Buffalo in July to provide over 1,000 families with meals, free haircuts, clothes and hygiene products.
He also partnered with Delta Sonic and The Teacher's Desk to provide teachers with school supplies for the new year.
Earlier this week, he held a free ice skating event for families at Canalside.
Outside of Buffalo, he does charity work in his hometown of Rahway, N.J.
Each of the 32 NFL teams nominate a player for the award. The winner is announced at the NFL Honors on Feb. 6.
