SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- For the first time in nearly five years, FOX NFL Sunday returned to America's Finest City to celebrate Veterans Day weekend on Naval Base San Diego.

”To have this here right now shows you how proud we are, and how strong we are, and how strong the military is,” said Eliza Rubic, U.S. Navy Command Master Chief. “We’re here to support and defend.”

A salute to service only San Diego could curate.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to open Navel Base San Diego to not only the people here in the community, but also the world,” said Robert Healy, a Naval Base Captain. “It really showcases what the Navy does on a daily basis.”

”It mean’s a lot. I’m really speechless that we got the opportunity to do it here in San Diego, in my hometown, my birthplace,” said Amaru Bradley, a Naval Officer and Spring Valley native. “It’s something I like to call home."

A return by FOX NFL Sunday for only the second time in the show's 31 year history, last stopping by MCAS Miramar in 2020 amidst the covid pandemic.

“What they do for our country, for myself, it’s just unbelievable. It's just a small token to have this FOX pregame show kick off right before all the Sunday games start,” said Rob Gronkowski, former Patriots Tight End & FOX NFL Sunday Analyst. “It’s just an honor to be able to give thanks here.”
