Former Florissant cop sued for stealing nude photos: lawsuit

FLORISSANT, Mo. – We now know the name of the former Florissant police officer accused of stealing nude photos from women without them knowing during traffic stops.

According to a new lawsuit filed in federal court, Officer Julian Alcala was sued again Tuesday for his alleged actions.

Alcala is accused of pulling multiple women over, telling them he needed to take their phones to his squad car to view their insurance information, searching through them for nude photos and then taking pictures of those photos with his own phone.

This most recent lawsuit, filed Tuesday, accuses Alcala of sharing the nude photos with others. Attorneys said they believe there are at least seven other victims. Attorney Bevis Schock called the former officer’s alleged violation of privacy against his client “disgraceful.”

“Suddenly, those pictures are spread to the public, and her sense of modesty and her sense of privacy is wholly violated,” Schock said of his client, whose identity was protected in the court filing.

Schock said one question still remains unanswered.

“The big question in this case is, did anyone from Florissant (police) in a position of authority know this was going on?” Schock said.

The Florissant Police Department is also being sued for Alcala’s actions. Last month, the department released the following statement:

“The Florissant Police Department is aware of a lawsuit alleging officer misconduct while on duty. We are deeply concerned by these allegations… we hold our employees to a high standard of integrity and expect them to treat every member of our community with dignity and respect.”

The Ethical Society of Police also weighed-in on the allegations, providing this statement:

“This officer’s actions reflect a severe lapse in character and blatant abuse of power, demonstrating that he is unworthy of any position in law enforcement…”

The FBI is also investigating the allegations.
