FLORISSANT, Mo. – “When people don’t know who to call, they usually call us!” Those words from the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District’s Facebook page ring true for all firefighters, who respond to a variety of emergencies beyond putting out fires.
Around 6 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to the 700 block of Liberty Village Drive for a dog trapped under a concrete patio. The dog was able to dig herself under the patio but could not get out.
Two units arrived with shovels and set to work digging under the concrete slab to carefully extricate the dog without risking damage to the property.
The dog was safely reunited with her family about an hour later.
