Firefighters on Monday commended the elementary school nurse and staff who offered life-saving care to a driver who suffered a medical emergency and crashed into several parked cars in the parking lot of Three Oaks Elementary School.
CARY, Ill. — Firefighters on Monday commended the elementary school nurse and staff who offered life-saving care to a driver who suffered a medical emergency and crashed into several parked cars in the parking lot of Three Oaks Elementary School.
"This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of knowing CPR," a spokesperson with the Cary Fire Protection District said in an emailed statement. "Immediate action can save lives, and we encourage everyone to learn this vital skill."
Firefighters arriving to the school, at 1514 Three Oaks Road, after the 9:30 a.m. crash found staff already applying an AED and performing CPR on the driver, described as an adult male. Paramedics took over caring for the driver and transported him to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington after they regained a pulse.
"We commend the quick actions of the school’s staff, who immediately recognized the severity of the situation and acted promptly to deliver life-saving care," the spokesperson said.
No other information was immediately available. The Cary Police Department is investigating the carsh.
