(KRON) -- All lanes of eastbound Highway 92 have reopened following a full closure in Foster City Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. A big rig trailer that caught fire around midnight was extinguished, and cleanup crews remained on scene for several hours.
Eastbound traffic on Highway 92 was being diverted at Foster City Boulevard before all lanes reopened at 6:30 a.m. The San Mateo Bridge-Hayward remained open throughout the closure.
The 50-foot-long trailer fire was reported just after midnight, and a severe traffic alert was issued at 12:23 a.m., according to a CHP incident log. The big rig truck was able to detach from the trailer that was on fire.
Officials initially estimated that the roadway would reopen around 8:30 a.m. before announcing all lanes were open just before 6:30 a.m. CHP said to expect residual delays.
