SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Crews were on the scene of a brush fire in South Bay Sunday night that was burning in a valley behind homes, prompting a road closure in a residential neighborhood.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to a brush fire that started around 4:30 p.m. Sunday north of Dennery Rd near Topside Lane in the Ocean View Hills neighborhood of South Bay.

According to the fire-rescue department, the fire was burning in the valley behind homes in the 5100 block of Topside Lane, and Dennery Road was closed as crews worked to douse the fire. There were no evacuations put in place.

A fire strike team was called in around 5 p.m. to assist. Firefighters worked on the ground and a helicopter was dropping water in an effort to slow the fire progress.

That fire was contained at 2 to 3 acres as of 7:15 p.m. Sunday. SDFD said there were no injuries and no structures were damaged.
