Chicago police officers fatally shoot knife-wielding man at Little Village senior building

Chicago police officers fatally shot a knife-wielding man early Friday inside a Little Village senior building. Around 2:10 a.m.,Ogden District officers responded to calls of a person with a knife inside a sixth floor apartment of the Albany Terrace Apartments, 3030 W. 21st Place, when they were confronted by a 57-year-old man with a knife while knocking on the apartment door, police said. The unidentified man charged at officers and they fired their weapons, striking the man multiple times, according to police. The 57-year-old was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said. Two officers were hospitalized for observation. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability were responding to the shooting.
