Catskill man arrested on drug possession charges
A Catskill man was arrested on drug possession charges Tuesday after a traffic stop. Michael Hurst, 39, faces multiple felony charges.
CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Catskill man was arrested on drug possession charges Tuesday after a traffic stop. Michael Hurst, 39, faces multiple felony charges.
On Tuesday, around 4:31 p.m., troopers reported seeing a 2015 Nissan Altima violating several traffic laws on Main Street in the village. A traffic stop was initiated and troopers identified Hurst as the driver and only person in the car.
As troopers continued their investigation, Hurst reportedly fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, he was arrested and found to have around 28.5 grams of crack and cocaine bags on him.
Charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, a class B felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, with the intent to sell narcotic drugs, a class B felony
- Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class E felony
- Criminal using Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor
- Resisting Arrest, a class A misdemeanor
- Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor
- Driving while Ability Impaired by Drugs in the first offense, misdemeanor
- Multiple Traffic Tickets
Hurst was arraigned at the Town of Catskill Court. He was released on his own recognizance with a pending future court date for criminal proceedings.
