Burnsville motorist killed, passenger injured in southern Dakota County collision
The crash occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. at Highway 61 and 190th Street in Marshan Township.
Two Burnsville residents were injured, one fatally, in a Wednesday afternoon collision on U.S. 61 in southern Dakota County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. at Highway 61 and 190th Street in Marshan Township.
A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was southbound on Highway 61 and a Hyundai Elantra sedan was eastbound on 190th Street. The vehicles collided in the intersection, which is controlled by stop signs on 190th Street only.
The driver of the Elantra, Ramazan Ali Rahmani, 38, of Burnsville, was killed. Passenger Mahdi Rahmani, 29, of Burnsville, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
The driver of the Silverado, Theresa Yvonne Fredin, 42, of Cannon Falls, Minn., suffered injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening. She was also transported to Regions.
The State Patrol reported that road conditions were good at the time of the collision, which didn’t involve alcohol. Air bags deployed in both vehicles, and Ramazan Rahmani was wearing a seat belt.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
