Arrest made in mental health-related situation in Jefferson County; Highway 30 shut down
Authorities are attempting to make an arrest of a man after responding to a mental health situation Friday morning in Jefferson County.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. - Authorities have arrested a man while responding to a reported mental health situation Friday morning in Jefferson County.
Highway 30 has been shut down in both directions near House Springs as the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a situation. For a brief time, there was an apparent standoff between a man and authorities along the highway.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says authorities were looking "to make a felony arrest on a man who stopped his vehicle along Highway 30 near Executive Parkway." The sheriff's office announced an arrest around 9:40 a.m.
Local traffic on eastbound Highway 30 traffic is being diverted onto Local Hillsboro Road. Drivers can then continue to Dulin Creek Road, Hillsboro House Springs Road, or go all the way to Highway 21 northbound to avoid the closure.
Westbound Traffic is being turned around at Scottsdale Road and diverted back to the eastbound lanes. Drivers can also use the Dulin Creek, Hillsboro House Springs, or Highway 21 routes to get around the closures.
Authorities are also investigating a driver in a stolen vehicle crashed down an enbankment into water Friday morning in Jefferson County. Two people were inside the car, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. This is an unrelated incident to the standoff in Jefferson County.
