ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- An Albany man was sentenced in federal court for his part in a drug trafficking conspiracy. The U.S. Attorney's Office reported Brian Scott, 44, was sentenced to 10 years for conspiring to distribute at least five kilograms of cocaine and 100 kilograms of marijuana and for distributing cocaine.

In July, Scott pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and marijuana with the intent to sell them in the Capital Region and the North Country through a drug trafficking organization. He admitted that between June 2020 and October 2023, Scott and a co-conspirator sent drug couriers to sell in both locations; Scott also admitted he sold over 400 grams of cocaine and trafficked at least seven kilograms of cocaine.

Officials said he was also ordered to forfeit $4,865 in seized drug money. Scott was also ordered to pay a forfeiture money judgment of $17,180.

In addition to his 10-year sentence, Scott was sentenced to a five-year probation term after his release. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cyrus Rieck and Joseph Hartunian prosecuted the case.
