FPD said it received a report on Monday at 5:40 a.m. of "an injury collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian" in the area of Mission Boulevard and Mohave Drive. Officials said officers located the pedestrian down in the roadway, and medics took the victim to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
FPD said the unidentified pedestrian was struck by a car traveling westbound as they were crossing Mission Boulevard, but noted the victim was "not utilizing a marked crosswalk" when the crash occurred.
Officials said the cause of the collision has not yet been determined, but drugs and alcohol do not appear as factors. FPD confirmed the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
FPD said out of the 12 fatal traffic collisions in Fremont, six have happened on roadways, four on state routes and two on private property.
