2 charged with battering Chicago cops during West Side funeral
Charges have been filed following a brawl outside of a West Side funeral that injured two Chicago police officers Saturday afternoon. Demarco Hunter, 25, and Michael Fitzgerald, 37, were arrested in the 4300 block of West Madison Street, where the attack on the officers took place, police said. Hunter was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and Fitzgerald was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, officials said. About 12:25 p.m. Saturday, officers responding to a fight in West Garfield Park were battered by a group of people at the scene, authorities said.Three officers were taken to area hospitals where they were treated and released, police said.The men were scheduled to appear in court Monday.
