CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy was killed and a 14-year-old girl was injured Sunday night in a shooting in Gage Park on the city's Southwest Side.
According to Chicago police, the teens were outside walking just after 8:45 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Maplewood Avenue when they were shot at by two unidentified male offenders, who then fled the scene.
The 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times in the body, police say, and taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 14-year-old girl sustained a graze wound to the leg and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition.
Video from the scene showed the area blocked off by police tape and several evidence markers on the sidewalk.
Police say nobody is in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.
