Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a young mini-bike rider in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles early Monday morning.
The crash was reported near Olympic Boulevard and Arapahoe Street at about 1:45 a.m.
Responding officers found the unidentified male mini-bike rider down at the scene, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told KTLA.
Investigators believe the car was traveling eastbound on Olympic when it hit the mini-bike as it traveled northbound on Arapahoe.
The rider, believed to be between 15 and 20 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The hit-and-run driver fled the scene in an unknown direction without rendering aid, the spokesperson said.
The suspect's vehicle was described only as as a dark-colored, unknown model.
Detectives are searching the area for surveillance video.
