Following the technical issue impacting Automated Market Maker (AMM) pools on the XRP Ledger we discussed earlier, RippleX, the developmental arm of Ripple, has now announced a scheduled reset of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) Testnet on August 19, 2024, at 3:00 AM EST, expected to last around 15 minutes.
In a recent update shared via tweet, this reset aims to enhance the Testnet’s stability and operational efficiency. RippleX emphasized that such resets are crucial for maintaining a robust testing environment for developers and users.
Attention #XRPL Developers: we're planning a Testnet reset on August 19, 2024, starting at 3:00am EST. The reset will take approximately 15 minutes, during which the Testnet may be unavailable.
Resets improve the Testnet stability and reduce the cost of running a Testnet…

In addition to the scheduled reset, RippleX is working on permanent measures to further stabilize the Testnet. These measures include restricting access to Testnet XRP to prevent network overload, bolstering security measures, and establishing a regular reset schedule to ensure consistent performance. The goal is to protect the Testnet from potential abuse and maintain its effectiveness for testing.
Recent reports highlight increased network activity, particularly through micropayments, showcasing the XRPL’s efficiency in handling high transaction volumes.
RippleX is also advancing its exploration of incorporating Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) capabilities into the XRPL, which could significantly impact decentralized finance (DeFi) and asset tokenization. For example, recently CNF reported that Ripple (XRP) introduced ‘Remit’ for atomic cross-currency payments.
As of now, Ripple (XRP) is trading at $0.5012, having surged by 7.15% in the past day with a decrease of 16.48% in the past week.
