A man was killed Saturday afternoon during a struggle over his gun after he tried to rob someone in the New City neighborhood on the South Side, according to Chicago police.
A 43-year-old man was outside working in the 1500 block of West Garfield Boulevard just before 3 p.m. when a man approached him and pulled out a gun, demanding his property, police said.
There was then a struggle over the gun, and the alleged armed robber sustained a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition but later died. His identity hasn’t yet been released.
Police said no one is in custody and that they were investigating the shooting.
