  • WorldCoin, co-founded by Sam Altman, has strengthened its team by hiring four former executives from Apple, Google, Meta, Tesla, and X.
  • The new hires will address privacy and security issues, curbing the worldwide scrutiny from regulators and privacy advocates.

Tools of Humanity, the core contributor to the eyeball-scanning crypto project WorldCoin, has appointed four tech gurus from five major tech companies to strengthen its team.

Despite a great deal of scrutiny from watchdogs and privacy advocates worldwide over privacy concerns, WorldCoin Co-founder Sam Altman has announced the appointment of four former executives from tech giants, including Apple, Google, Meta, Tesla, and X.

This brilliant move signifies WorldCoins’ commitment and devotion to curbing privacy and regulatory hurdles as it gears up for development.

Additionally, World Coins’ new hires are among the many manifestos in creating a “fair” digital currency distribution system. By utilizing World IDs, WorldCoin offers a digital identity relying on iris scans for uniqueness verification, with the sole purpose of distributing its cryptocurrency, WLD, worldwide.

Despite its ambitious dreams, the project still faces criticism over collecting biometric data through iris scans. Countries like Spain and Hong Kong have banned operations in their jurisdictions. However, Tools of Humanity argues that the current juncture of AI necessitates a robust “proof of humanness” system.

According to a statement released by the organization, the newly hired gurus bring expertise in precisely these areas, aiming to “build technology to develop a more just economic system” while ensuring user privacy and security. Also worth noting, On May 15th, as earlier reported by Crypto News Flash, the WorldCoin Foundation announced the open-sourcing of its Secure Multi-Party Computation (SMPC) system.

This advanced system encrypts iris codes into secret shares distributed among multiple parties, permanently deleting the previously used iris codes for identity verification.

Rich Heley, who joins as Chief Device Officer, will take the lead in hardware development. With experience at Apple, Meta, and Tesla, Heley will oversee the design, performance, and accessibility of the Orb, a custom-designed device by Tools for Humanity for capturing iris scans for Worldcoin.

Next on the list is the former Chief Privacy Officer position at X. Damien Kieran will still hold the same position at Tools for Humanity. Kieran will collaborate with data privacy officers and regulators worldwide to establish “new industry standards for compliance and privacy protections.”

Also tagging along is the former Director of Android Security at Google. Adrian Ludwig will be filling in as Chief Information and Security Officer serving Worldcoin’s internal and external data security.

Finally, Ajay Patel, who previously led Google Payments’ identity team, joins as Head of World ID.

As WorldCoin encounters regulatory repulsion, the project is set to launch its dedicated Ethereum L2 solution this summer. Additionally, despite all odds, WorldCoin is changing hands at $2.33, marking a modest 39.63% increase in a year. No coins selected
