One woman was hurt and one man was arrested after a stabbing Thursday morning in Litchfield, Illinois, police say.
LITCHFIELD, Ill. - One woman was hurt and one man was arrested after a stabbing Thursday morning in Litchfield, Illinois, police say.
The Litchfield Police Department reports that Robert L. York, 59, was arrested in connection with the stabbing. The Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office is preparing to file charges of first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery in the case.
The stabbing happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of East Prairie Street.
Investigators say that York called an emergency line around that time and advised officials that he had stabbed his wife. First responders arrived at the scene a short time later and arrested York.
Investigators say the victim suffered significant injuries. She was treated by Litchfield firefighters at the scene, then sent to a nearby hospital for additional treatment.
Litchfield police sent York to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office for detention, while Illinois State Police Crime Scene Division officers also responded to process the home for evidentiary items.
