ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A woman was found dead inside a vehicle Tuesday morning after being submerged by flood waters in Lemay.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department, the body was found inside of an SUV near Bayless Avenue and Interstate 55 after the area had been flooded from heavy rain Tuesday morning.
Officials say the Mehlville Fire Protection District and Lemay Fire Protection District conducted several rescues in the area due to flash flooding. A preliminary investigation revealed that woman had driven her car into the water earlier in the morning during the flash flooding.
Authorities said the cause of death is currently unknown.
Five additional vehicles were also submerged in water but were unoccupied.
