Woman, 44, fatally struck by car on Staten Island: NYPD
Denise Owens was in the street, walking against traffic on the westbound lane of Hylan Blvd. in New Dorp about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, when she was struck by the car, cops said.
A 44-year-old woman was fatally struck by a Nissan Maxima as she walked down a heavily traveled Staten Island thoroughfare, police said Thursday.
Denise Owens was in the street, walking against traffic in the westbound lane of Hylan Blvd. at New Dorp Lane in New Dorp about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when she was struck by the car, cops said.
EMS rushed her to Staten Island University North Hospital, where she died of her injuries.
She lived about nine blocks from where she was fatally struck, cops said.
An 18-year-old man driving the Nissan Maxima remained at the scene.
No charges were immediately filed.
