AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Dirt Candy Farm in Wimberley has changed its name following a lawsuit from a Manhattan restaurant with a similar name. On Tuesday, the family-owned farm announced it will now be known as Wild Candy Farm.
This comes after the Wimberley farm received a cease and desist letter from the New York City restaurant's attorney in April 2023 claiming the farm was infringing on the restaurant owner's trademark.
After over a year of petitioning the trademark case with no results, the Wimberly farm decided due to legal costs it would end its fight against the Manhattan restaurant.
"Although we believe ourselves to be in the right, we would prefer not to continue to spend thousands of more money on legal fees fighting a fine dining restaurant in Manhattan," Sky Cutler, an owner of Wild Candy Farms said in a statement to KXAN.
Cutler thanked everyone who has supported the farm so far and looks forward to growing food for the Central Texas community.
Wild Candy Farm is located at 150 Dry Cypress Ranch Road in Wimberley.
