AUSTIN (KXAN) — Williamson County officials celebrated the groundbreaking of the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor on Monday.
Located at 5350 Bill Pickett Trail in Taylor, the new facility received its funding courtesy the 2023 Williamson County Parks Bond. The upcoming site will include a 175-foot by 450-foot covered arena alongside restrooms and showers, two covered picnic pavilions and an expanded parking area.
The project is expected to take roughly 12 months to complete and features a $10.7 million construction cost. County officials said the project will help existing events grow in both size and scope as well as welcome new ones to the mix.
"Facilities like this give us the space we need as we grow, but it also gives us a spot for the people who have kind of made us — the farmers and the ranchers," Williamson County Commissioner Russ Boles said. "The expo center's a spot for them to learn. It's a spot for them to compete. It's a spot for them, that they can bring their kids and carry on the traditions that have made Williamson County so great."
