Which Missouri counties showed the most support for a Trump-Vance ticket? Here's a closer look based on preliminary election results.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Donald Trump has won the presidency in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, according to race call projections from The Associated Press.
The path to victory requires 270 electoral votes out of the total 538. AP projects at least 295 electoral votes for Trump in the 2024 election cycle with presidential races called in all but two U.S. states as of Thursday.
Trump becomes only the second former president to win an election bid after previously leaving office. From 2017-2021, he served as U.S. president with a vice president running mate of Mike Pence. For his elected term, 2025-2029, he had a vice president running mate of J.D. Vance.
A majority of Missouri voters strongly favored Trump, with around 1.7 million votes, as opposed to 1.1 million votes from Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. Trump won the state with roughly 58.5% of voter support in the latest general election, according to AP projections.

In terms of counties with the largest majority percentages in favor of Trump, according to the Associated Press, the Top 10 included:

- Stoddard County (86.7%)
- Mercer County (86.2%)
- Osage County (86.2%)
- Ripley County (86.2%)
- Wayne County (86%)
- Barton County (85.8%)
- Douglas County (85.7%)
Of these 10 counties, five are located in the southeast Missouri region (Bollinger, Carter, Ripley, Stoddard, Wayne), three are located in the southwest Missouri region (Barton, Douglas, Wright), one in mid-Missouri (Osage) and one in northern Missouri (Mercer).

All of these counties have a population between 83,000 and 420,000 people, per U.S. Census figures.
Of these 10 counties, three are located in the St. Louis metropolitan area (Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles), three are located in the Kansas City metropolitan area (Cass, Clay, Platte), three are in the Springfield-Joplin metropolitan area (Greene, Christian, Jasper) and on is in the Cape Girardeau metropolitan area (Cape Girardeau).
