AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Let's first remind you that today is the last day of Daylight Saving Time. Set your clocks BACK one hour before retiring tonight. Tomorrow morning's sunrise will be at 6:47 followed by the early sunset of 5:41.
Weekend Forecast
The area has had very little rain so far. The forecast continues a chance of showers and isolated to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight. A little rain will be possible tomorrow morning followed by a mostly dry Sunday afternoon.
High temperatures this afternoon will be warmer than normal, peaking in mostly the middle 80s.
Wind speeds will be picking up during the afternoon with gusts up to 20 to 25 mph. Gusty winds will continue tomorrow and Monday. Some gusts Monday, the day before the cold front arrives, could be as high as 30 to 35 mph.
Cold Front Coming
A change in the weather pattern arrives Monday night/Tuesday with the arrival of a cold front that will knock temperatures out of the 80s to more fall-like 70s Tuesday and Wednesday.
Showers and thunderstorms will be increasing Monday and Monday night. This will be one of those rare rainmakers that gives just about the entire area a drink of water.
Some of the thunderstorms Monday and Monday night could go severe with hail and strong winds.
And, the Weather Prediction Center has a marginal flood risk for much of Central Texas.
Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday will be dry and cool with highs in the 70s. Lows Tuesday and Wednesday mornings fall to the 50s, with some 40s Wednesday morning in the Hill Country.
Low rain chances are back to end the week and start the weekend.
Election Day
Election day will be cooler. A few showers will be possible when the polls open. Clouds will thin out by the afternoon.
