Waterford-Halfmoon boys soccer advances to semifinals
The Waterford-Halfmoon boys soccer team won it's first section title since 2009 last season. They looked to continue their title defense this year in the quarterfinals at home against Cambridge/Salem on Monday night.
WATERFORD, NY (NEWS10) -- The Waterford-Halfmoon boys soccer team won it's first section title since 2009 last season. They looked to continue their title defense this year in the quarterfinals at home against Cambridge/Salem on Monday night.
The game was scoreless at halftime. Logan Sheehan broke through for the Fordians less than two minutes into the second half. Just minutes later, Blake Guertin added another for Waterford-Halfmoon.
After Cambridge-Salem scored to pull within a goal, freshman Payton Galuski added a penalty kick goal to make it 3-1 Fordians. Waterford-Halfmoon advanced to the semifinals with a 4-1 win. The Fordians will play Maple Hill on Friday at Bethlehem High School at 5:00 PM with a chance to advance to the title game.
