WATCH: Crews battle structure fire in La Mesa
Firefighters are responding to a structure fire in the 4900 block of Clearview Way in La Mesa.
LA MESA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Firefighters are responding to a structure fire in the 4900 block of Clearview Way in La Mesa.
Officials with the La Mesa Police Department said units are assisting Heartland Fire & Rescue with traffic control in the area of Hillside Drive and Clearview Way as crews battle the blaze. Motorist are encouraged to avoid the area.
What we know so far
A spokesperson with the fire department said a call initially came in at 6:58 a.m., with an individual reporting that a vehicle and trailer had caught fire next to a home on Clearview Way. That blaze was reported to have then spread to the nearby home.
Firefighters responded to the scene and determined the situation to be a second alarm fire. This means that the response requires additional resources, such as more support personnel and equipment.
The spokesperson also said there are no reported injuries at this time and confirmed that The Red Cross was notified to assist residents that may be displaced.
No further information was immediately released. FOX 5/KUSI is at the scene and is working to gather more information.
