Smile! Vista Community Clinic has a new, state-of-the-art 29-foot A+ Teeth Mobile Unit.
A ribbon-cutting event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the VCC Administrative Building at 465 La Tortuga Drive in Vista, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
In partnership with the Vista Unified School District, VCC will deliver critical dental services to students throughout the district, from preschool to grade 12, with a focus on elementary ages. The mobile unit is part of VCC’s A+ Teeth Program, which aims to make dental care more accessible to young students, improving oral health outcomes across the community.
The A+ Teeth Mobile Unit is designed with advanced dental technology to provide dental assessments, fluoride varnish application and dental sealants on-site at schools. This program eliminates barriers to care, such as transportation challenges, ensuring that students receive services to prevent dental decay as well as connect them to the oral health services they need.
In the last year, VCC’s A+ Teeth Program has served 600 students across 16 schools in the VUSD.
“The Vista Unified team is so excited to add this valuable service for our students,” said Dr. Matt Doyle, superintendent of the Vista Unified School District. “We have developed a robust community school model for our district that is focused on deepening our partnership with the Vista Community Clinic to turn our schools into community hubs for education, health, and safety. The addition of the A+ Teeth Mobil Unit adds to the already robust partnership with VCC to provide mental health services to our students.”
Dr. Rebecca Cornille, VCC’s Chief Dental Officer, emphasized the impact of the mobile unit. “At VCC, we understand the importance of early connection to dental care. Our A+ Teeth Mobile Unit allows us to reach children who might otherwise go without care, preventing long-term oral health issues. We’re excited to continue expanding our services and make a lasting difference in the lives of students across the district.”
