No new economic stimulus payments are scheduled despite viral social media claiming otherwise, according to the IRS website.
“The IRS has issued all first, second and third Economic Impact Payments. You can no longer use the Get My Payment application to check your payment status. Most eligible people already received their Economic Impact Payments,” the website stated.
Various posts claim that taxpayers in some states could receive $2,000 or more during the holiday season. Claims like these have become more common as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States in January.
The last time Americans received stimulus checks was during the first Trump administration during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although most qualified beneficiaries have received their checks, those who have not yet can still try to claim it on a future tax return. The deadline to submit a return and claim the 2020 credit has passed; however, the deadline to file and claim the credit for 2021 is April 15, 2025.
