Vikings waive cornerback Akayleb Evans as 2022 draft continues to disappoint
In a corresponding move, the Vikings activated tight end Nick Muse from injured reserve.
Another member of the 2022 draft class has been waived by the Vikings.
After notably cutting bait with safety Lewis Cine and cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. over the summer, the Vikings did the same with cornerback Akayleb Evans on Saturday afternoon as a way to carve out more space on the roster.
In a corresponding move, the Vikings activated tight end Nick Muse from injured reserve. Because fellow tight end Josh Oliver has been ruled out with an ankle injury, Muse should garner some playing time when the Vikings play the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field.
Though the decision to move on from Evans might come as a surprise, it makes sense considering he has been buried on the depth chart. After serving as a starter earlier in his career, Evans has only played three defensive snaps this season.
There’s a chance Evans could be brought back as a member of the practice squad if he clears waivers.
