COLORADO SPRINGS (KXRM) — Tuesday, Nov. 19, marks two years since five people were killed and 19 were injured at Club Q when a 22-year-old man opened fire inside the LGTBQIA+ nightclub. Club Q will hold a public candlelight vigil at the site of the attack on the evening of the anniversary.
On the night of the attack, Kelly Loving, Daniel Aston, Derrick Rump, Ashley Paugh, and Raymond Green Vance lost their lives. The vigil aims to honor the victims and their families, as well as survivors and the impacted community.
The candlelight vigil will be held at Club Q, 3430 N. Academy Blvd., from 7 to 8 p.m. Afterward, Club Q's new bar and lounge, The Q, inside the Satellite Hotel at 411 Lakewood Circle, will host "A Night of Resilience and Strength: A Community Gathering" from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Club Q is nearing completion of the foundation for its permanent memorial at the original site, which includes five columns representing each victim. Local artists are invited to work with the victims' families to create designs that reflect their loved ones' visions of those they lost.
