Venezuelan nationals arrested for ATM skimming across Missouri and Kansas
Two Venezuelan nationals were arrested in Kirkwood, Missouri, after they were accused of using card skimmers at ATMs across Missouri and Kansas.
RAY COUNTY, Mo. - Two Venezuelan nationals were arrested in Kirkwood, Missouri, after they were accused of using card skimmers at ATMs across Missouri and Kansas.
According to court documents, Darwin G. Moreno-Conde, 24, and Yorbin Y. Allen-Hernandez, 44, were arrested on November 15 at the Kirkwood Police Department and taken to Ray County jail for allegedly using a skimmer at Bank Midwest in Richmond, Missouri.
Bank Midwest received several reports of fradulent activity at their ATM, and their fraud department found the skimmers were being placed on ATMs along Interstate 70.
The skimmers were confirmed to have been used at the bank's ATMs located in O'Fallon and throughout the St. Louis area. Fraudulent transactions were also reported to have occurred at a Phillips 66 in St. Charles at 3601 Harry Truman Blvd. and another Phillips 66 in St. Louis at 100 Lake St. Louis Blvd.
Moreno-Conde and Hernandez's vehicle were caught on camera via the ATM's surveillance video, and Hernandez's ID was connected to the vehicle, leading to their arrest.
Moreno-Conde was charged with stealing and first-degree property damage to a teller machine. Both are being held with a $250,000 cash-only bond. Moreno-Conde is scheduled for an initial court appearance on November 26.
Hernandez has been ordered to be deported by an immigration judge in Detroit, Michigan.
